Gregory D. Rueb
Gregory D. Rueb, Esq. ("reeb") was born on an Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska in 1966. In 1968, his mother underwent one of the very first open heart procedures in the US and shortly thereafter, his family moved to the San Francisco Bay Area. Raised in Martinez, CA, Mr. Rueb experienced a well-balanced upbringing filled with solid family values and endless energy. In high school he earned numerous scholastic honors, played trumpet in an award winning jazz band, played and received multiple, distinguished honors and Bay Area wide recognition in football, baseball and basketball, all while earning his Eagle Scout award, Boy Scout's highest honor.
In 1988, inspired by his high school science teachers and his mother's medical experiences, Mr. Rueb graduated from the University of Pacific with a B.S. in Biology with an emphasis in Chemistry. While in college, Mr. Rueb maintained his well-balanced academic, social and athletic experiences. He played intramural/club football, rugby, lacrosse, and basketball, joined the fraternities of Omega Phi Alpha (social) and Alpha Chi Sigma (chemistry) and spent his summers at several prominent Bay Area hospitals, working in a major trauma center, an emergency room, and an operating room.
In 1991, Mr. Rueb earned his law degree from McGeorge School of Law. During law school, he continued to play rugby and focused on community service and advocacy in the Sacramento area. From 1991 through 1992, Mr. Rueb began his legal career as a Contra Costa County Deputy District Attorney, prosecuting criminals and developing his trial skills.
In 1992, he joined the Law Firm of Gordon, DeFraga, Watrous, and Pezzaglia in Martinez as an associate attorney. His initial primary areas of practice were personal injury, criminal defense, sports law and corporate law. By 1994, 90% of his practice focused on personal injury and wrongful death matters. In 1998, he became a partner and equal owner in the Gordon Firm. Over the next 4 years, Mr. Rueb became the top-earning attorney in the law firm.
In 2003, Mr. Rueb established his own law practice and in 2004, Mr. Rueb founded the firm of Rueb & Motta. Over his nearly 25 years of practicing law, Mr. Rueb has earned a reputation as a skilled negotiator and a hard-nosed litigator with extensive courtroom experience. Mr. Rueb has tried more than 74 cases in front of a jury and has lost only once. He is a personal injury lawyer who has handled thousands of catastrophic injury and wrongful death matters, taken and defended over 750 expert and witness depositions, reviewed over 10,000 different medical files, participated in over 500 mediations and has successfully recovered well over $30,000,000 for his clients. In 2014, Mr. Rueb was awarded the distinction of being named as one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers in the United States by the National Trial Lawyers Association.
Mr. Rueb is a passionate attorney who loves helping others. He works extraordinarily hard, believes that preparation and knowing his client’s case better than his opponents makes a world of difference, and his competitive spirit and vast expertise make him an excellent advocate on behalf of people whose lives have been destroyed as a result of others carelessness.
Mr. Rueb firmly believes that an attorney must be battle proven with a tremendous record of success before a corporation or an insurance company will take the attorney seriously and pay premium dollars to fairly resolve a case. As such, even though Mr. Rueb has tried 10 times more jury trials than many of his peers, he is still able to settle 95% of his cases without the need for trial.
Mr. Rueb belongs to the American Association for Justice, the National Trial Lawyers Association, the Consumer Attorneys of California, the Contra Costa Bar Association, the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association, and has been on either the campaign or the finance committees of six different candidates for countywide elections. He has lectured on personal injury law and has received numerous community awards.
Mr. Rueb lives in the East Bay Area, is married and has three children ages 17, 14, and 11. Mr. Rueb has been an avid Golden State Warrior and a San Jose Shark season ticket holder for over 25 years; he enjoys coaching, playing with and raising his children, plays on a multi-championship bocce team, and actively engages in regular exercise, including golf, tennis and mountain biking.
